Our Story

Who We Are

Grandmother’s Voice is a visionary Indigenous organization that aims to unite Indigenous voices while extending a warm invitation to individuals from all directions.
With deep reverence for the timeless wisdom carried by Grandmothers, we endeavor to be a source of healing and unity within communities.

Our mission is to revive and amplify these Ancestral insights and values, nurturing them for generations to come.
We extend our hand to individuals, corporations, and organizations across the public, private, and non-profit sectors, inviting them to join us in embracing the teachings of Indigenous Ancestors, Grandmothers and Grandfathers. Through this collaboration, we aspire to craft a tapestry of Hope, Heart, and Healing that envelops all.

Empowering communities across the Halton region, our organization serves as a beacon for building awareness and fostering connectedness. Rooted in our home base, we are dedicated to enhancing capacity and illuminating the landscape of Indigenous social services and determinants of health in the region. Join us on this transformative journey as we strive to strengthen bonds, raise awareness, and contribute to the well-being of our community.

Ripple-effect of Knowledge

At Grandmother’s Voice we are grounded in cultural and regional practices. We offer services that allow for knowledge sharing through the reclamation of our stories, and sharing our Indigenous knowledge and wellness practices. These services are offered at both a community and a professional level.

Our hope is that land-based teachings and collective understanding brings truth, healing and reconciliation.

Co-founders of Grandmothers's Voice

Grandmother’s Voice was born from the realization that countless individuals share a common story—the story of seeking connection. A connection to their roots and each other. Our co-founders, driven by a deep understanding of this and by the ancestral voices of those before us, created this space where all are not only welcome but encouraged to explore, learn, and participate. Here, it doesn’t matter where you come from; what matters is where you’re headed on your journey of understanding, unity, and shared wisdom.

Welcome to a place where hearts connect, and stories find their voice: Two Rows Together.

Hear Jody's Story

Jody Harbour always knew she was Indigenous, and credits her father for instilling in her a profound sense of Indigenous identity and pride, despite her limited understanding at the time. His words, “You’re Indian, and don’t ever let anybody tell you you’re not,” echoed in her heart as she navigated life determined to honor his message.
