Grandmothers & Grandfathers Speak from the Heart of the Mother

November 17, 2025 @ 9:00 pm - 10:00 pm

Grandmothers & Grandfathers Speak from the Heart of the Mother

Presented by Grandmother’s Voice

Each week, Grandmothers and Grandfathers Speak from the Heart of the Mother invites viewers into a sacred circle of story, song, and teaching led by respected Elders and Knowledge Keepers from across Turtle Island and beyond.

Hosted by Jody Harbour, Co-Founder of Grandmother’s Voice, the series offers a living bridge between ancestral wisdom and contemporary life — reminding us that healing, unity, and reconnection with Creation are the pathways to a more balanced world.

About the Series

What began as an online gathering during a time of isolation has become an international community of learning, reflection, and ceremony. Each week, Elders share teachings that speak to the heart — addressing personal healing, collective responsibility, and the spiritual relationships that bind all peoples to the Earth.

The livestream is more than a broadcast. It is a ceremony in motion — a virtual fire where all are welcome to sit, listen, and remember. Through stories, laughter, and truth, the Grandmothers and Grandfathers remind us who we are as spiritual beings walking gently on the land.

Purpose and Vision

The series aligns with Grandmother’s Voice’s mission to amplify Indigenous leadership and intergenerational healing through education, storytelling, and land-based practice. It builds cross-cultural understanding and creates space for Indigenous and non-Indigenous people to learn together in good relations.

Themes explored include:

  • The sacred responsibilities of land and water
  • Ancestral knowledge and natural law
  • Healing intergenerational trauma through ceremony
  • Reconciliation rooted in love and accountability
  • The role of Elders in guiding community wellness

About the Event

This week, Grandmothers and Grandfathers Speak from the Heart of the Mother welcomes Jim (James) White and Gayle-Allaq, two deeply respected healers and teachers whose lives and work reflect profound spiritual commitment to the healing of all peoples.

Their teachings invite us into the heart of ceremony and story—where healing is not a destination but a living relationship with the sacred. Together, Jim and Gayle-Allaq remind us that the path of restoration begins with listening: to the ancestors, to the land, and to the truth within our own hearts.

About Jim (James) White

Medicine Man | Santee Sioux | Yuwipi Ceremony Keeper

Jim White, of the Santee Sioux Nation, is a medicine man known within his inner circle for his Yuwipi Ceremony—a sacred Lakota healing ritual whose name means “they tie him up.” The Yuwipi ceremony is a traditional practice of deep prayer and invocation, calling upon the spirits of ancestors and animals to bring physical, emotional, and spiritual healing.

Through this ceremony and his way of life, Jim helps guide those who seek balance and renewal, reminding us that true healing arises through humility, faith, and the recognition that we are never alone in our journey.

About Gayle-Allaq

Storyteller | Shaman | Co-Founder, Greenlandic Grandmothers Council

Gayle-Allaq is a storyteller, speaker, and spiritual guide who has supported others on their healing journeys for over forty years. Her life story, Ann’s Story, was released as a national film in Canada in 1983 and re-released in the United States in 1984, later becoming a cornerstone resource for Sexual Assault Centres across Canada for more than a decade.

After many years of advanced Cognitive Skills training, Gayle-Allaq devoted herself to understanding the path of the soul and heart-based thinking. Her eight-year apprenticeship with Elder Angaangaq Lyberth (Ice Wisdom International) led to her initiation in Greenland as a Shaman/Angakkoq, under the ancestral traditions of her teachers.

As a co-founder of the Greenlandic Grandmothers Council, Gayle-Allaq continues to build solidarity among Indigenous peoples and to share the ancient, heart-centered wisdom that guides all healing back to love.
